The jacuzzi recently broke at a house I am renting. Can I ask my landlord for a reduction in rent?

Jacuzzi
He removed the jacuzzi and doesn’t plan to replace it. Should I approach him and ask for reduction in my monthly rent?

Asking is free. Receiving is more questionable. Your argument should be that the hot tub was one of the primary considerations in your renting of the premises. I would be prepared to give a number based on research as to what the fair market value of the hot tub is on a monthly basis. If he is not prepared to reduce your rent, ask him to replace it. If he will do neither, you may have a legitimate claim in small claims court WHICH WILL NOT be worth your pursuing even on the principle of the thing. All of this depends on the particular Landlord Tenant statutes in the state in which you are located.

Check your lease. If the jacuzzi is one of the amenities that is the responsibility of the landlord, then you have the right to another jacuzzi or some other compensation. But, if the jacuzzi was included as a convenience and it states as such in the lease, it’s up to you to repair or replace it. Although you’re under no obligation to do so. If the jacuzzi is not mentioned in the lease at all, it’s a poorly written lease. But, it would be as if the thing didn’t exist and again it’s your responsibility to repair or replace it. If you did replace it, it is yours to keep when you move, though. If you have it repaired and want to take it with you, you would have to negotiate with the landlord to purchase the jacuzzi prior to the repairs and then have it fixed.

If the house was advertised with a Jacuzzi and on the contract is talks about the Jacuzzi and what happens if it breaks down ect, then theres No harm in asking.
Don’t ask don’t get that’s my motto
