Question by lilquinta19: What is a sauna or steam room and the benefits of it?
I just joined the gym and I heard about the steam or sauna room, something like that. I have never been in one and I am kinda embarrased to go in their cause I dont know what to wear or what to expect since that would be my first time. Any advice.
What to wear in it?

high blood pressure and dehydration. which the dehydration will make you hungry because sometimes your body confuses thirst with hunger.. and the steam room is a place where they make it hot…so for some reason that’s healthy

Does it help you lose weight? Is it bad for your skin? I want to go to one, but I don’t want to spend a lot of money on nothing. Is the steam just for relaxation or does it have other benefits as well?

Vulcan Steam & Sauna is located in downtown San Diego. Does anyone know anything about it or have had any experiences with it? How old do you need to be? Is it clean? How much is it? Any info would help =)

About 1 day after we fill my hot tub and balance Ph, it begins to stink. I almost think its fungus growing in the cover, from the steam. But if any of you have had a similar problem please help!

While you’re in sauna/steam, will you sit in there naked, or wrap the towel at your waist instead? If you sit in there naked, will cover up your privates by towel or by hand?

I am really wanting to go to a sauna, but there are none anywhere near where I live. Is it possible to recreate the effects of it in a shower? Perhaps covering the door cracks with a towel and turning the water as hot as it can go and sit in there with the steam?

I think it’d be really fun to have a sauna party in the middle of winter, but i don’t have a sauna, nor do i particularly want an expensive one. I’m thinking of doing it in the garage where i can’t really get the heat above 70 degrees. for this party i don’t really want it to be too hot, maybe 100, but have plenty of steam. Anybody have any ideas for heaters or other things i can buy or rent to make this work?
