Vulcan Steam & Sauna is located in downtown San Diego. Does anyone know anything about it or have had any experiences with it? How old do you need to be? Is it clean? How much is it? Any info would help =)

I am 10 weeks pregnant and i have only been in the jacuzzi & steam room twice throughout my pregnancy. I was told that this could be harmful to my baby because of the rise in temperture. I am so worried i have harmed my baby please advise?

We’re renovating our master bath, and underneath the big Jacuzzi bath tub there are the pipes and motor and a regular metal junction box (strapped to one of the large PVC pipes) to which they ran the power for the motor. But the 20-amp wires going into the junction box are just regular white wires with no special protective jacketing or anything, coming up from the floor under the tub.

Well, it’s just freaking me out now.

What if I’m taking a bath and one of the pipes starts to leak, and water hits that junction box. Would that make me get electrocuted?

My husband says I’m freaking out over nothing, that even if that ever happened, the circuit breaker would almost immediately switch off, and the wire itself is grounded, so electricity would follow that ground instead of going to the tub and me.

He’s going to replace the box with a water proof outdoor type to make me a little more comfortable… but am I worrying about nothing?
I guess the huge electric motor with all its coils is still there anyway, so the junction box is the least of my concerns. But I just don’t know how electricity works in these cases.

I mean, you see these stories where people drop a plugged-in radio in the tub and fry themselves. If my husband is right, wouldn’t the circuit breaker kick off immediately (assuming it was a normal, modern, grounded outlet)?

What is the advantage of one of those GFIC (ground fault interupt) circuit things that pop out?

Can you use bubble bath in jacuzzi tubs? I’ve heard some say that you can & others say that it will mess the tub up.

I have heard that maintaining & cleaning a jacuzzi is not easy and bacteria tends to grow in the pipes/jets which is a health hazard. We are building a house and I need advice as to whether we should put a jacuzzi in the master bathroom. I think we would be using the jacuzzi about once a month or so (maximum).

Is it painful to maintain a jacuzzi? Anybody with experience?

We’re doing a residential bathroom where a 4′x6′ Sauna Room opens up into a Steam Shower. I’ve heard it’s best to avoid wood in the Steam Shower, but what can we do when the Sauna interior is Cedar, and the Steam Shower must be all glass & ceramic tile? Will a Wood Framed Glass Door hold up over time? Appreciate any advice anyone might have!
